TECH5, an innovator in the field of biometrics and digital identity management, makes its T5-OmniMatch ABIS Biometric Engine compliant with the identity-related categories of APIs of the OSIA ITU standard (ITU-T Recommendation) for the global infrastructure of information and communication technologies (ICT).

OSIA is an open set of interfaces (APIs), introduced by Secure Identity Alliance (SIA[1]), that enables seamless connectivity between all components of the identity management ecosystem – independent of technology, solution architecture or vendor hence make an identity management system interoperable and removes vendor lock. Since April 2024, OSIA has become an official standard (ITU-T Recommendation) of the International Telecoms Union (ITU[2]), the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs). This Recommendation describes a set of standardized application program interfaces (APIs) needed to connect the multiple building blocks of an identity management solution and is technically equivalent to the OSIA specifications.

The new version of T5-OmniMatch ABIS BE is compliant with two categories of APIs out of four, described in this recommendation: Population Registry (PR), managing key biographical information on individuals for the basis of ID cards and services, and Biometric System (ABIS), managing biometrics and authentication services. This compliance makes TECH5’s platform OSIA-ready to implement IDMS (Integrated Database Management System) and ABIS (Automated Biometric Identification System) into ID systems in the Telecom industry.

“Telecom is one of the key vertical markets for TECH5 globally. Compliance with the ITU-T Recommendation is a critically important component for success in our future projects in this field.” – comments Ameya Bhagwat, Chief Revenue Officer at TECH5.

“We ensure interoperability of our platforms and its compliance with open standards. Compliance with two of such open systems – OSIA and MOSIP – makes TECH5’s biometric matching platforms perfectly suitable for National ID projects around the world fostering interoperability without sacrificing the innovation of the proprietary technologies. We focus on enabling countries with reliable technologies and solutions allowing to build Foundational ID and Digital ID infrastructures based on the direction they choose.” – comments Rahul Pathe, Co-founder, Chairman and CTO at TECH5.
